YOME was founded in 2021 by 2 friends, who have been in the fashion industry for several years now. Over the years, they accumulated experience and found out a lot of things, for example, a lot of things can go wrong in the fashion industry. Think of poor working conditions, the bad environment and the economy. It’s like a piece of cloth being made halfway around the world, where workers’ conditions are worrisome and wages are extremely low. In addition this type of cloth travels the world only to be worn a few times by consumers. This is called ‘fast fashion’ and it is also extremely bad for the climate. Furthermore they had discovered that the low price of apparel did not correspond at all with the work behind it.

As a consequence the owners of YOME had decided to produce fair trade clothing that would benefit the working conditions, the environment and the economy in a positively way. They completely focused on the quality of the fabrics and the local production process. In fact, ‘YomeClothing’ is produced in the Netherlands particularly by tailors of immigrant origin. Furthermore YOME uses their craftsmanship and their years of experience in this trade.
